About Hillbilly Farm Market

Welcome to the Hillbilly Farm Market, where everything starts with dirt under the nails and ends with something worth sharing. We’re a small family farmstead tucked away along the north shore of Lake Erie, just outside Fisherville in Haldimand County, Ontario. We live off-grid, work hard, and raise or make just about everything you’ll find in our little market.

A Farm Market Built on the Farmstead Life

We didn’t start out planning to sell anything. This all grew out of living the farmstead life for real. We raised chickens, milked sheep, made tallow balm to fix what cracked, and mixed up herbal tinctures when store-bought stuff didn’t cut it. Then folks started asking for what we were using ourselves.

So we started small. Folks would stop by and ask about the eggs, then the chicken, then what we were using to stay healthy out here. We put together a little roadside stand, and it grew from there. Now we’ve got a proper shed set up as a farm market and apothecary, and we’re offering a bunch of it online too.

Everything we sell comes from our homestead, made by hand or raised by us. No middlemen. No warehouses. Just real people doing honest work, one order at a time.

Meet the Hillbillies

We’re Dan and Janet, the hands and hearts behind all this. We didn’t come from a long line of farmers—we chose this life. And we’ve learned just about everything the hard way, whether that’s setting up solar, building fences, or figuring out what makes sheep happy. Every lesson has shaped the way we run our farmstead and make our goods.

We believe in using what we’ve got, keeping things simple, and doing things the old-fashioned way when it works better than the new. We’re not fancy, and that’s the whole point.

What We Make and Why We Make It

Our Hillbilly Farm Market is packed with stuff we actually use. If it’s not something we trust on our own skin, feed to our own animals, or give to our own family, it doesn’t go on the shelf. That’s why you’ll find:

  • Fresh eggs and pasture-raised chicken from our land
  • Mullein tincture and other handmade herbal remedies
  • Tallow balms and creams made with care
  • Bug sprays, magnesium rubs, and other lotions and potions to help ease your aches and keep things natural

We don’t sell anything we wouldn’t stand behind ourselves. If something doesn’t work the way it should, we don’t make excuses;we just fix it.

Off-Grid and On Purpose

Our farmstead is off-grid, powered by solar and propane, and run with care. We filter our own water, grow our own food, and heat with wood when the weather turns. We’re not chasing trends or labels. We just believe in living close to the land and staying connected to what really matters.

That same mindset goes into everything we sell. Our apothecary goods are made in small batches, our animals are raised with respect, and we keep things clean and honest every step of the way.

Come Visit or Shop Online

If you’re nearby, you’re always welcome to stop by. We’re open on weekends and some other days when the weather cooperates and we’re not buried in chores. You can also shop online. Some items are pickup only, like eggs and chicken, but plenty of our apothecary and wellness products ship across Canada.

We’re real glad you found us. Whether you’re here for something specific or just pokin’ around, we hope you’ll feel right at home.

Join the Hillbilly Farm Market Family

Things move a little slower out here, but word still travels fast when the eggs are fresh and the chicken sells out quick. If you want to stay in the loop on what’s coming out of the homestead next, we’d love to have you join our Hillbilly Farm Market family.

Sign up for updates and we’ll send you a heads-up when new batches are ready, special orders open, or fresh tinctures and tallow hit the shelves. We won’t flood your inbox, just the good stuff you’ll actually want to know. Like when the next round of farm-raised chicken is ready for pickup, or what we’re mixing up in the apothecary this week.

You can also follow us on Facebook to see daily farm life updates, product drops, off-grid tips, and maybe even the occasional chicken photo. Our market may be small, but the folks who support it are mighty, and we’re glad to have you along.

However you found us, we’re real glad you did. Stick around, say hi, and keep an eye out for new goods from the Hillbilly Farm Market. It’s the kind of place where a handshake still means something and everything is made with care.
